What will you study?

In the Main Subject National Politics you mainly study domestic political processes. Of course, attention is paid to the international political context in which domestic politics takes place as well. At Ghent University, the study programme on Belgian domestic politics is multidisciplinary, so that political scientists have sufficient knowledge of the relevant processes in other domains of our society. On the other hand, this Main Subject  also leads to an advanced degree in political science, i.e. the discipline of political science that mainly looks for the laws of motion and taxonomy of Belgian domestic politics. Starting from specific and recognizable political events, the fundamental logic of our political system is unraveled and characterized by means of comparison with other systems. In short, the Main Subject National Politics provides an overview of specific political processes and events, and provides the academic equipment for a political science study of local, regional and national political processes.
